Where do I find my Junk Email and Quarantine

Your Junk Email folder is built directly into the Outlook client. It can be accessed alongside your other folders using the Outlook desktop application or Outlook on the web at https://www.outlook.com.

Your Quarantine can be accessed at https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine. You would login the same way you log into your O365/Departmental email (using your username@ucla.edu and following the SSO login).

What do I do if a legitimate email goes to Junk?

You can mark a sender or domain as Safe in Outlook, which sends all their future emails to your Inbox.

What do I do if I receive SPAM email in my INBOX?

You can mark a sender or domain as Blocked in Outlook, which sends all their future emails to your Junk Email folder.

What is the difference between JUNK and Quarantine?

Junk Email

  • Destination for lower-scoring spam
  • Should be checked regularly for legitimate emails

Quarantine

  • Destination for higher scoring spam and messages that are phishing or malware.
  • Can be checked less frequently, since quarantined messages are more likely to be spam
  • Emails are held for 30 days, then deleted.

Managing Quarantine

Your Quarantine can be accessed at https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine

Release an email from Quarantine

  1. Log into the Quarantine at https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine
  2. Click on the email you want to release
  3. Select Release email
  4. Select Release message to finalize
  5. The email will be sent to your Inbox shortly

Delete an email from Quarantine

Quarantined emails are automatically deleted after 30 days – you can check their expiry date under the Expires field in the top navigation. To manually delete an email:

  1. Log into the Quarantine at https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine
  2. Click on the email you want to delete
  3. Click the 3 dots in the top-right corner of the message popup
  4. Select Delete from quarantine
  5. Select Continue to finalize and delete

What is Office365 (@luskin.ucla.edu)

Will this affect my @g.ucla.edu

Depending on how you use it, it may… yes. If you have your @ucla.edu set as PRIMARY on top of your departmental EMAIL account (@dept.ucla.edu) under the Enterprise 0365 system…. emails sent to “username@ucla.edu” will now go to your departmental inbox instead of your g.ucla.edu inbox. Emails sent to username@g.ucla.edu” will continue to go to your g.ucla.edu inbox. More information at this article: KB0013561

Note: Emails sent to your uclalogonid@ucla.edu email address are now delivering to my departmental Inbox
